The Group for Solicitors with Disabilities is often asked by individuals and organisations to help them publicise a need. Any current requests are detailed below. 

Intersectional (multiple) Discriminations against Women Lawyers and Judges in England and Wales

Alexandrine Guyard-Nedelec is a second year PhD student in University Paris 7 and Queen Mary University of London (supervisor: Prof. Kate Malleson). To adopt a sociological approach, she interviews women lawyers and judges who have multiple aspects of identity (ethnic or social background, disability, sexual orientation, religion, age, etc.) and who are willing to speak about their experiences. The interviews are anonymised both personally and as regards the firms taking part. They are treated as strictly confidential and handled in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.

Commerce and Industry Group NE Mentoring Programme

As part of their commitment to support in-house lawyers, this group is pleased to announce that they are launching a North East Mentoring Programme.   Due to the popularity of the Group’s recent pilot scheme in London, it has been decided to roll this out to other regions.

The group have secured the support of 8 senior in-house lawyers to act as mentors Click here to view a list of mentors in North East and this programme is aimed at improving career development for in-house lawyers, and giving you the opportunity to broaden your network and gain useful insights from a mentor on career and skills development.  The programme will operate for a 6 month period.

If you are an in-house lawyer with less than five years PQE, and you work within a small in-house team or as a sole in-house lawyer, this is an ideal opportunity for you.
