Introduction

Hello and welcome to the Summer 2007 edition of The Bridge, the magazine for members of the Group for Solicitors with Disabilities (GSD)
I know that it’s been a long time since the last edition was produced, and I’d like to take this opportunity to apologise for the delays.  In my day job as a disability consultant I have been doing some work for the Department of Health on user-led organisations, and felt empathy frequently with the problems those organisations faced – they were very similar to the issues that cause us difficulty in perhaps being as active as we would like. 
However, we now have a new editor in the person of Daniel Park, a Chartered and Revalidated Librarian who has joined my organisation, Equal Ability CIC, as our Information and Communications Manager, and who has prior experience of producing and editing magazines on behalf of public bodies.
We are very keen to make sure that the articles we produce in “The Bridge” are thought-provoking and inspire you to make comments which we will investigate and, with your permission, publish in subsequent issues.
