And finally…

One of our GSD members with a visual impairment was visiting a sick family member at Queen’s hospital in Romford, Essex a huge, newly built hospital and was directed to the lifts on the strict instruction only to take the “blue” lift.
Not surprisingly when a lift arrived it didn’t announce verbally that it was a blue lift or indeed a lift of any other colour, nor did any Braille material indicate the colour of the lift either – it was only the intervention of a sighted visitor that permitted the GSD member to reach their relatives’ bedside in this modern accessible state-of-the-art hospital – so much for the DDA!

Future Meetings

The National Committee will meet on wednesday 12th September 2007,12th December 2007and 2nd April 2008 all at 4pm. These meetings are open to all members of the group. The Annual General Meeting will be at 3pm on Wednesday 14th May 2008 and will be followed by a reception. All meetings will be held at The Law Society 113 Chancery Lane, London Wc2 1PL. It is planned to have some furture meetings outside London.
